Westbourne Pupils Inspired by Sustainability-Focused Art Workshops
Westbourne School pupils enjoyed a vibrant and inspiring day of creativity as Sheffield artist Joanna Rucklidge visited the Senior School to deliver a series of hands-on art workshops.
Rucklidge, whose work explores themes of sustainability, guided pupils through processes including mark making, texture exploration and zine-based design. Throughout the day, pupils threw themselves into the sessions with curiosity and enthusiasm, producing a striking range of expressive and imaginative work.
Art staff praised the workshops for enriching the curriculum and giving pupils the opportunity to learn directly from a practising artist whose commitment to environmental themes reflects Westbourne’s own values.
Mrs Hawdon, Art teacher, said:
“We were delighted to welcome Joanna to Westbourne. Her passion for both sustainability and creativity really resonated with our pupils, who created some beautiful work and engaged brilliantly with the materials and ideas.”
The workshops form part of Westbourne School’s ongoing mission to provide dynamic, real-world learning experiences that nurture creativity, confidence and independent thinking.
