The Westbourne Word Returns with a Bumper Issue

Westbourne Word

There’s plenty to get stuck into in the latest edition of The Westbourne Word, as our talented student journalists deliver another thought-provoking and entertaining half term read.

This bumper issue showcases the breadth of curiosity and creativity across the school. Jaya takes an insightful look at “The Pink Tax”, exploring the hidden costs behind gendered products and encouraging readers to think critically about everyday spending. Anna tackles the complex topic of alcohol consumption, examining the social and health implications with maturity and balance.

Meanwhile, Muneeba and Yangyi turn their attention to seasonal celebrations, investigating what people might be celebrating at this time of year – and, importantly, why those traditions matter. Their piece offers cultural insight and thoughtful reflection.

We’re also delighted to introduce a brand-new regular feature from our newest recruit, Alex. Strange Sports makes its debut with an exploration of octopush – a fast-paced and little-known underwater hockey game that is sure to spark curiosity (and perhaps inspire a few new hobbies!).

Alongside these new additions, readers can enjoy all the familiar favourites: the ever-popular Debate Wars, intriguing instalments of History’s Greatest Mysteries, the Library Check Up, and, of course, our anagrams and puzzles to put your brain to the test.

The Westbourne Word continues to be a brilliant platform for student voice, critical thinking and creativity. Congratulations to everyone involved in producing such a rich and engaging edition.

Happy reading, read the Westbourne Word Edition 31.
