Bibliotherapy!
Year 6 Treated to Some “Bibliotherapy”
Year 6 pupils received a very special delivery of books, carefully selected by our dedicated Year 7 librarian team.
The initiative, described as a little “bibliotherapy”, was designed to encourage pupils to discover the joy of reading while supporting wellbeing through stories, imagination and escapism. Each Year 6 pupil was gifted a hand-picked book from the Senior School Library to enjoy over the coming weeks, alongside a personalised reading list tailored to their individual interests and favourite genres.
At Westbourne School, we believe that reading plays a vital role in developing creativity, confidence and a lifelong love of learning. It was wonderful to see the excitement and enthusiasm from pupils as they explored their new books and bespoke recommendations.
A huge thank you must go to our fantastic Year 7 librarian team for the time, care and thoughtfulness they put into preparing the reading lists and selecting books for our younger pupils.
We hope Year 6 enjoy getting stuck into their new reads and discovering some new favourites along the way!
Mrs Smith, Head Of English said:
“Reading has the power to comfort, inspire and transport us to new worlds. We wanted every Year 6 pupil to feel excited about picking up a book that truly reflects their interests and personality. Our Year 7 librarian team have done an outstanding job creating thoughtful recommendations and helping to foster a genuine love of reading throughout the school
