As a non-selective school we are proud of all our pupils’ achievements, and strive to ensure they reach and hopefully exceed their potential as indicated by baseline testing.
GCSE Results 2026
Westbourne School is proud to announce another strong set of GCSE results from our largest ever cohort of Year 11 pupils, many of whom joined Westbourne midway through their GCSE studies at the start of Year 11 as the result of the closure of other nearby independent schools.
84% of all pupils gained at least 5 subjects at grade 4 or above, including the key subjects of English and Maths. Of all grades gained across the curriculum by all pupils, an impressive 42% were at level 7, 8 or 9 (A or A*), and 81% of all pupils gained at least one grade 7 (A).
This achievement underscores the dedication of our pupils and the unwavering support provided by our committed teaching staff.
Mr Birbeck, Head of Senior School, expressed his pride in the pupils’ accomplishments:
"I am immensely proud of the achievements of all our Year 11 pupils, and I wish them every success as they leave Westbourne to pursue their post-16 studies at Sixth Forms and Colleges across Sheffield and beyond. Our intake is not academically selective, so to see such strong results from our wide range of pupils is a testament to their hard work and the inclusive, nurturing yet challenging environment that Westbourne provides. I am particularly proud of the successes of those pupils who changed schools to join Westbourne midway through their GCSE courses, they have worked hard to overcome this disruption to their education and have become valued members of our Westbourne Community"
We are confident that the skills, knowledge, and experiences pupils have gained from their education at Westbourne will serve them well as they embark on the next stage of their educational journeys.

We monitor progress towards GCSE exams carefully, and advise and support our pupils as they apply for post-16 education at schools and colleges across Sheffield and sometime further afield.
