Pupil Voice

Pupil voice is paramount at Westbourne. We prioritise ensuring all pupils feel heard and valued.

Pupil voice is paramount at Westbourne. We prioritise ensuring all pupils feel heard and valued. This is achieved through regular pupil surveys, a ‘worry box’ email address and a physical post box located in both senior school and junior school.

These channels encourage open communication and allow pupils to express concerns about themselves or others, ensuring their voices are heard and addressed.

The school council teams look at how suggestions and concerns can be actioned and the outcomes are then fed back to the students.

The purpose of a PASS survey is to gather pupils' perspectives on their school experience, well-being, and learning, providing valuable insights that help identify areas for improvement and inform targeted interventions. By completing this survey on a termly basis, we can track progress over time and ensure that the support offered is responsive to the evolving needs of each pupil.

Westbourne School is proud to announce another strong set of GCSE results from our Year 11 pupils, who have demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination despite the challenges posed by the COVID pandemic during the early years of their secondary education.

94% of pupils achieved grade 4 or above, (National Average 67%) including the key subjects of English and Maths. Of all grades gained across the curriculum by all pupils, an impressive 45% were at level 7, 8 or 9 (A or A*), and 76% of all pupils gained at least one grade 7 (A).

This achievement underscores the dedication of our pupils and the unwavering support provided by our committed teaching staff.

Mr. Birbeck, Head of Senior School, expressed his pride in the pupils’ accomplishments:

"I am immensely proud of the achievements of all our Year 11 pupils, and I wish them every success as they leave Westbourne to pursue their post-16 studies at Sixth Forms and Colleges across Sheffield and beyond. Our intake is not academically selective, so to see such strong results from our wide range of pupils is a testament to their hard work and the inclusive, nurturing yet challenging environment that Westbourne provides."

We are confident that the skills, knowledge, and experiences pupils have gained from their education at Westbourne will serve them well as they embark on the next stage of their educational journeys.

We congratulate all our Year 11 pupils on their outstanding achievements and extend our thanks to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and the entire Westbourne community for their role in helping our pupils succeed and thrive.
