Westbourne School’s Assistant Head, Mr Glover, swapped the classroom for the pavement this October, running an incredible 100 miles and raising £200 for the National Autistic Society.

“I chose to do this because I’m so passionate about raising awareness for autism. My family lives with autism and, like thousands of other families across the country, it’s a part of our daily lives. Sometimes, I like to think of it like the weather – it’s always there, constantly changing, and we consider it in every part of our day.”

The National Autistic Society supports around 700,000 autistic people in the UK and their families, offering everything from specialist schools and campaigning for better rights, to training companies on how to be more autism-friendly.

Mr Glover’s 100-mile October challenge was inspired by a desire to make a difference.

“I’m hoping that my fundraising efforts will help make daily life just a little bit easier for every family with autism. I want to say a big thank you to all the people who supported me because every donation is a huge help in creating a society that works for all autistic people and their families.
Every family has a unique story, which is why I believe it’s so important to build a better understanding of autism across British society. A greater understanding can lead to more empathy, and that would go a long way toward making things better for everyone.”
