Westbourne Word Edition #29

The Westbourne Word – Edition 29: A New School Year of Big Ideas
A new school year is underway, and our talented pupil journalists have wasted no time getting stuck into some thought-provoking topics for Edition 29 of The Westbourne Word.
Jaya opens the edition by exploring the fascinating concept of free will – questioning whether it truly exists. Muneeba shines a light on an important social issue, examining the discrimination faced by people of colour when seeking medical treatment. Meanwhile, Will takes us on a journey through history, uncovering the origins of the so-called Banana Republics.
As always, readers can look forward to our popular regular features, including Debate Wars, book reviews, and the ever-popular library check-up. And, of course, no October edition would be complete without a touch of Halloween spirit!
Anna delves into the spooky season’s origins, while Harriet serves up a range of Halloween-inspired recipes perfect for trying out over the holidays. Finally, we’re excited to welcome our new film critic, Idris, who continues the eerie theme with his debut review of Encounter of the Spooky Kind.
Packed with insight, creativity and curiosity, this edition of The Westbourne Word is not to be missed.
