Westbourne School Sports Day 2025

Westbourne School Sports Day 2025
11 July 2025

What a day! Energy, excitement, and epic relays and the closest house competition we've ever seen!

From javelin to jelly legs in the finals, our Sports Day 2025 had it all.

On Friday 27th June, Westbourne School held its much-anticipated annual Sports Day at the prestigious English Institute of Sport – a fitting venue for a day filled with energy, teamwork, and friendly competition.

Pupils from Year 5 to Year 11 competed in a wide range of track and field events, showcasing the skills they have developed in PE and Games lessons throughout the year. Events included the Javelin, Long Jump, Sprinting, and High Jump, with each activity highlighting our pupils’ determination, athleticism, and school spirit.

From the very start of the day, the excitement was palpable as pupils gathered in their house groups – red for Holmes, yellow for Johnson, green for Whitfield, and blue for Mercer. The day began with the 60m sprints, organised by year group and gender, and continued with a well-structured programme of events that encouraged both individual performance and house pride.

Adding to the atmosphere was the fantastic turnout from families, who came to cheer on the athletes and be part of the celebration. Their support, combined with the pupils' enthusiasm and effort, made the day all the more memorable.

In the afternoon, it was the turn of our youngest competitors, as Year 3 and 4 pupils took to the track and field. Their events included the 60m sprint, racket and ball race, and javelin – all delivered with great enthusiasm and joyful energy.

The day concluded with the highly anticipated school relays and final races, with pupils giving their all to bring in the last few points for their house teams.

This year’s results were the closest we’ve ever seen – a true nail-biter until the very end. With the addition of the Year 3 and 4 results, Johnson House soared ahead, claiming a well-deserved victory.

Final House Results:

1st place – Johnson
2nd place – Holmes
3rd place – Mercer
4th place – Whitfield

A huge thank you to all the staff who made the day run so smoothly, and to our incredible pupils for their positivity, teamwork and sportsmanship. It was a wonderful day that captured the very best of Westbourne.
