Voices Together - National Poetry Day Celebrations
Westbourne's second poetry performance cafe, this year with a focus on the themes of diversity and inclusion. Here at Westbourne, inclusion is one of our four core values and we certainly witnessed inclusion in action during our poetry workshops: almost 100 hundred pupils, from five different schools and four different year groups, all working positively together and supporting each other to produce some really thoughtful and thought-provoking group poems. The sheer number of pupils who volunteered to perform their pieces at the end of the day was phenomenal and we were delighted with the enthusiasm and confidence on display! It was great to see so many parents supporting the event too, enjoying our pupil performances alongside a cup of tea and piece of cake.
The afternoon's workshops could not have been possible without the dedication, hard work and expertise of our team of Y10 HAPS poets - thank you for all you have done to make the event such a huge success for a second year running.
A special thank you also to the wonderful English Department and to Mrs Smith, who brought this event to life.
