Art & Design
At Westbourne, we believe in providing pupils with a rich variety of art opportunities that enable them to develop a love for a subject that is both intellectually challenging and creatively fulfilling.
Art is integrated across various aspects of the curriculum, offering a rich and diverse learning experience:
- Forest School: Pupils are encouraged to use natural resources to create art, linking their learning with nature and the environment.
- Enrichment Lessons: In Year 5 and 6, pupils engage in two enrichment lessons per year, where they work on specific art projects. An example of this is the seasonal artwork created for their Autumn term calendar, providing them with the opportunity to showcase their creativity and learn new techniques.
- Art Across the Curriculum: Art is also integrated with other subjects, such as when pupils create artwork linked to their history or science topics, fostering cross-curricular connections and enhancing their overall learning experience.
