Senior Leadership Team
Mr Aidan Edmanson
Headteacher
I am a firm believer that all children should have the opportunity to sample a rich curriculum that challenges them.
I joined Westbourne in 2024 and I am delighted to be part of the Westbourne family. I have always considered myself inquisitive and a life-long learner, whether throughout my Undergraduate and Masters degrees, or now, in my role as a school leader. Therefore, I feel very lucky to be the Headteacher of a school where a love of learning is embraced, by both pupils and staff alike.
Inspired by my love of English literature, my career in education began in 2005. This has included working in two very different schools in the UK state sector, as well as twelve years of leading in high-performing International Independent schools in Guangzhou-China, Kuala Lumpur- Malaysia, and Boston in the United States. I have been lucky enough to work with amazing young people, committed and innovative staff teams, and highly supportive parents. This is, likewise, certainly the case at Westbourne.
To share a little more on educational values, I am a firm believer that all children should have the opportunity to sample a rich curriculum that challenges them (whatever their starting point in their learning), both academically and more holistically. I also firmly believe in the importance of fostering an appreciation of diversity and inclusion, as we nurture and create opportunities for our students to become their best selves, but also for our staff to grow and thrive. Additionally, as an educational leader, I pride myself on bringing a level of care, organisation and clarity to all I do.
I live in Sheffield with my wife, Amanda, and our two dogs, Dexie and Walter. We enjoy the city and love exploring the Peak DIstrict, and partaking in hikes, in our spare time. When given the opportunity, I also love running, watching football and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
