Chris Dalrymple

Parent Governor

"Having seen first-hand the role Westbourne has played in my children’s education, I wanted to contribute my time and experience to the school.

I am particularly interested in helping Westbourne continue to develop while retaining the culture and qualities that make the school distinctive."

Westbourne has always been brilliant at helping children discover their own passions, strengths and interests. The school gives children opportunities to try new things, discover what they enjoy and develop beyond the classroom.
As a governor, I want to help make sure those opportunities, and the culture that supports them, remain at the heart of a sustainable Westbourne for the future.

I am an entrepreneur, investor and business adviser. I co-founded Sheffield-based technology company Mina, growing the business from a startup to a team of more than 40 people before its acquisition in 2023.

Since then, I have worked as an adviser and mentor for many businesses across South Yorkshire. I also support the South Yorkshire business ecosystem through advisory roles with SYMCA and the Sheffield Social Enterprise Network.

My experience includes leadership, strategy, building teams, fundraising and helping organisations grow.

I work with startups and growing businesses as an adviser, mentor, non-executive director and angel investor. My areas of experience include strategy, leadership, organisational development, commercial growth, finance, fundraising and building high-performing teams.

I am a parent to two children who have attended Westbourne, one of whom is currently in the Senior School.

I hope my experience of leadership, strategy and growing organisations can provide a useful perspective to the Governing Board.

I have a particular interest in entrepreneurship, technology and the development of young people.

I am involved in supporting young entrepreneurs across Sheffield and South Yorkshire through mentoring, investment and other roles within the region’s business and technology community.
