Safeguarding Governor

I am a GP and have been working in Sheffield since 2005. I am also a Lead Safeguarding GP for adults and children in the Practice.

I was a parent of Westbourne School from 2015-2023.

I became a Governor after watching my son flourish at Westbourne, in the inclusive, supportive but also appropriately challenging environment. This made me passionate about the style of school Westbourne is. I think it offers something unique in Sheffield which, as a family, we were so glad to have found. This motivated me to offer something back to school and, alongside my fellow Governors, am determined to support the school and staff to ensure other children can experience the school.

I meet with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and other members of the Senior Leadership Team termly for a specific Strategic Safeguarding Meeting ensuring that the school has effective systems in place for keeping children safe. I also attend the Full Governors Board meetings on a termly basis and am available at all other times in between!

Whilst my son was at school I really enjoyed helping with school events, especially the infamous Mother’s Day sale.

I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and have been a GP trainer for 10 years, meaning I clinically and educationally supervise qualified doctors to become GP’s. Out of work I love running and walking  and enjoying all the Peak District has to offer.
