Mrs Caroline Petryszak

Interim Assistant Head of Junior School, Academic Teacher of Mathematics and Computer Science

I firmly believe that fostering a love of learning at an early age is the key to long-term success.

I joined the Westbourne community in December 2023, bringing with me many years of experience in the independent sector in the UK. I currently teach Maths and Computer Science in the Senior School and am the Interim Assistant Head (Academic) in the Junior School.

Originally a teacher of Senior School and Sixth Form Mathematics, I have had the opportunity to work with pupils of all ages through my work in all-through schools, and it is a privilege to be able to do so again at Westbourne.

I firmly believe that fostering a love of learning at an early age is the key to long-term success. When children enjoy learning they develop the skills to think critically, embrace challenges a seek knowledge beyond the classroom. By encouraging them to be curious and to persevere we allow them to build confidence. In doing so, we are preparing them not only for academic success but also for a lifetime of growth and opportunity.

I am passionate about education, and during my career, I have held a variety of pastoral and academic leadership roles, including those of Head of Junior School (2-11) and Headmistress (2-18). I have also worked as a Team Inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) since 2015.

I live in Hope Valley in the Peak District, and when I’m not out walking in the beautiful countryside, I am usually engrossed in one of my many craft projects or spending time with friends and family.
