Mrs Laura Mirfin

Senior School Pastoral Lead Head of Physical Education Whole School

I foster a supportive environment for all pupils. As Head of PE & Pastoral Lead, I prioritise their physical, mental, & social well-being.

I have been a dedicated member of the Westbourne community since 2005, initially as Head of Girls' Games. Over the years, I have consistently sought to expand my expertise, serving as a PSHE teacher, pastoral leader, and most recently, Head of PE.

I have actively participated in various school trips and enrichment activities, fostering valuable experiences for our pupils. My comprehensive teaching experience across all year groups allows me to build strong relationships with each child, enabling me to provide personalised support throughout their Westbourne journey.

I recognise the significance of a smooth transition from Juniors to Seniors, and I strive to ensure a seamless and supportive experience for all pupils.

Open and effective communication with pupils, staff, and parents is paramount to me. I believe that by fostering strong relationships and maintaining transparency, we can create an environment where our children can thrive both academically and personally.

The wellbeing and development of our pupils are my top priorities. I am committed to providing the support and guidance they need to reach their full potential.

As a mother of two daughters, I have a deep understanding of the unique social and emotional challenges faced by young people today, including the impact of technology, peer pressure, and the demands of school life.

My passion for sport and physical activity is deeply ingrained. I firmly believe in the numerous physical, mental, and social benefits of an active lifestyle, and I strive to encourage this in both my own children and my pupils.
