My heart lies in ensuring our children all have access to a fully inclusive curriculum
I joined Westbourne in 2011 as SENCo, and have enjoyed a range of roles and opportunities as the years have gone on. Having taken on the role of Assistant SENCo in my previous school in only my second year of teaching, my heart lies in ensuring our children all have access to a fully inclusive curriculum which enables them to find their own path to a rich future.
I love to see children of all ages and stages of development being ambitious about their goals - at Westbourne we don’t put ceilings on pupils’ performance, and they regularly far exceed the projections their data on-entry suggests they might achieve. The culture of the school has a huge part to play in that - we encourage all children to take on challenges and to stretch themselves, and from early on in their Westbourne journey we use our rich careers provision to inspire them to explore the many possibilities which face them.
I am a firm believer in strong communication and clarity around expectations, and as a key contributor to numerous policies in the school it is crucial to include stakeholders in our approaches. I particularly enjoy working closely with our families, attending our regular parent/carer forum sessions and holding parent/carer information events and workshops.
