Year 11 students at Westbourne School have done themselves proud as they returned to “normal” exams this year after over two years of disruption during the pandemic.
91% of all students gained at least 5 subjects at grade 4 or above, including the key subjects of English and Maths. Of all grades gained across the curriculum by all students, a record 36% were at level 8 or 9 (A*), and 78% of all students gained at least one grade 7 (A).
Mr Birbeck, Head of Senior School, said:
“I am immensely proud of the achievements of all our Year 11 students, and I wish them every success as they leave Westbourne to pursue their post-16 studies at Sixth Forms and Colleges across Sheffield and beyond. As a school we delivered high-quality online learning to our students throughout the pandemic, and it is clear from these results that our students have not suffered any long-term learning loss during those challenging years. Nationally, GCSE results this year are lower than the teacher-assessed grades issued in 2020 and 2021, but our students have outshone even those results in 2022.”
