Happy New Year and welcome back to a new style of Westbourne remote teaching.
As we once again find ourselves in a lockdown with schools closed to all but Pre-School and Key Worker Children, we resume our remote teaching… with a difference.
Next week will see the collapse of our normal 7 periods a day to 5 periods for most of our children. This is to allow children much needed time away from computer screens, stretch, rehydrate, and do some physical exercise. It’s a new routine and one they need to embrace to stay on top of this remote learning for at least another 5 weeks.
From what I’ve observed the staff and pupils have started brilliantly and it’s so good to see them engaged and enjoying the challenges and learning being set. We’ve already had masses of positivity around classroom learning but also the videos highlighting music, drama, poetry and sports have been inspirational .
I love the energy that the children bring, even if it’s from a computer screen, it’s still palpable. Obviously we are looking forward to having all our children back but until then there is much to do. Every new day is an opportunity to show us what skills they have got and amaze us with their efforts, attitude, resilience and determination to be the best they can be.
