Today the U12 and U13 girls netball team played against Lincoln Minster at Concord.
The U12’s was such an exhilarating game, both teachers were in suspense as the girls battled it out on the court. The girls had a good start and we were leading the first quarter 3-0. After the team talk the girls were re-positioned. At half time it was 4-2 to Westbourne but the gap was getting smaller. The girls went back on with more determination for the third quarter and you could see the drive and passion from both teams. At the end of the third quarter Westbourne was still leading but only by one goal. The girls went on for the final quarter with new targets and sheer determination to remain in the lead. Westbourne pulled the lead further and further away from Lincoln with their accurate passes and excellent shooting.
The end result was 8-3 to Westbourne’s U12 team. Goal scorers were Libby Leadbetter, Lola Brereton and Matilda Davidson.
Their target is to working in spacing and driving into space.
The Westbourne U13’s has a slow start and we’re losing the first quarter 2-0. The girls were repositioned and played much better in the second half. At half time Lincoln Minster were still leading 6-1. During the third quarter our girls started to show more determination, with better movement and passing. Before the final quarter the girls were given constructive criticism on their performance and repositioned again. The girls really turned it around in the final quarter. They got stuck in and the quality of their game play improved significantly. The gap between Westbourne and Lincoln was closing. Unfortunately though the girls lost 8-6.
