Year 5: RIVERS
As a part of their humanities topic about ‘Rivers’, Year 5 built a mountain in their Outdoor Learning lesson this week to help them understand how rivers are formed. First they built ‘Mount Bob’ from large stones, sand gravel and soil. Then, they all did a rain-dance and we made it rain on top of the mountain and watched the magic as the water made its way downhill in search of the sea. The kids marvelled as the water transported the sound and sand down the mountain, cutting out a deep channel and depositing it all in a large delta at the bottom. It was a great experience and will hopefully cement their learning they have done in the classroom.
