Year 3 Trip to Kelham Island – On Thursday 14th November , Year 3 had an exciting and informative visit to Kelham Island Museum. The day started with an engaging puppet show, which told the story of the character “Ironie” becoming stainless steel. Not put off by a little rain, they sheltered under the ginormous Bessemer Converter, and the children learnt about the historical machinery and tools used during the ‘Steel Revolution’. They also dressed up to experience what it was like to work in an 18th-century workshop to find out how crucible steel was made. What a fantastic trip to introduce our new topic of “Mighty Metals!”
