Junior School’s Groovy 1960’s Day…
A FAB time was had by all; children and adults alike in Junior School explored the creative, exciting and dynamic 1960’s. Our dressing up day added a real feel of authenticity as we saw hippies, Bobby Moore, Neil Armstrong, Beatles, Mary Quant, Dr Who, Audrey Hepburn, Wimbledon finalist Christine Truman and many more famous faces of the sixties in and around Westbourne House for a day!
Our children enjoyed learning and singing 60’s classics such as All You Need is Love and Hey Jude, making their own hippy headbands, visiting the planetarium where they explored the solar system and beyond, in addition to discovering about the space race and lunar landings throughout the decade.
Did you know that the game Twister was invented in 1960? Here are our Year 2 students creating their own version of the game.
And our Year 4 pupils learned some interesting facts about the 1960s through playing pairs.
