School update from Chris Hattam, Headmaster
Westbourne School has made the decision to close its nursery provision at the end of the Summer Term, in July 2023 to accommodate demand for places in other areas of the school.
The decision has been made by Mr Hattam, Westbourne School’s Headmaster, after careful consideration, and in consultation with the Governing body. The school will continue to welcome pupils into its popular Reception class.
Mr Hattam said, “We have growing numbers in Junior and Senior School and a waiting list in a number of years. Meanwhile, in a very competitive Early Years market, with insufficient demand for our term-time only offering, Pre-School is no longer financially viable.”
“We will, however, be offering local nursery providers the chance to benefit from our facilities and join us for activities such as PE, music and Forest School in our Victorian sunken garden.”
“Meanwhile the class space that is freed up by this decision enables us a significant and positive opportunity to welcome more children for a first-class Westbourne education from Reception to Year 11.”
