It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Westbourne celebrated Christmas on the penultimate evening of the autumn term with a traditional Carol service at St Marie’s Catholic Cathedral in Sheffield city centre.
Pupils aged five to 16 as well as staff, parents, governors and guests joined our school choirs and soloists to present an evening of carols and seasonal readings.
“This event is extremely popular with both families and staff,” said John Hicks. “There was a very warm welcome for everybody and it was a beautiful way to celebrate the start of Christmas.”
Along with a full range of traditional carols, the young musicians performed several other seasonal pieces, including themes from Tchaikovsky’s Christmas favourite The Nutcracker and more contemporary pieces such as It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas and Let It Snow. Niamh Fitzgerald put the tinsel on the tree with an amazing ballet performance of her GCSE piece, Comptine d’un autre ate: L’apres-midi.
Well done to all our performers and a very Merry Christmas 2019 and a Happy New Year 2020
