Meet our Head of Junior School

Mr Jonathon Clark BA (Hons) PGCE

Mr Clark has been with us for 14 years, having previously worked in a number of independent and maintained schools.
With a passion for teaching and learning he ensures lessons are fun, focused and fast-paced, ensuring all children reach and possibly exceed their potential.
As a dad of two teenage boys, he understands the importance of being a positive role model with a particular focus on fitness and well being.
Forest Schools and outdoor learning are areas that Mr Clark has helped to develop and is excited to further cultivate. Ensuring that all Junior School children learn, develop and thrive, displaying perseverance and resilience, in a healthy, positive and balanced school community environment.

The Junior School at Westbourne works with children from Reception to Year 6. A large number of our children join us from our own on-site Pre-School but a significant number also come from other schools in the area, both independent and maintained.

Our children enjoy their learning and thrive in small class sizes (average of 14), often with extra adult provision, where each child is facilitated in working towards becoming an independent learner capable of fulfilling their academic potential.
All Junior School children are involved in their very own Westbourne Journey where their efforts and contributions are recognised in the three foundations of effort, citizenship and school community.
As our children grow and develop on their journey through Key stage 1 and 2 they become familiar with staff who will teach them in Years 7 and 8 when they transfer into our Senior School.
This again allows our children to flourish and work confidently; making the most of the many varied and new opportunities available to them.
