At Westbourne, we firmly believe that all children should have the opportunity to experience a rich curriculum that both develops and challenges them, regardless of their starting point in learning, both academically and holistically. This is why we feel that an individualised educational approach, which fosters an appreciation of diversity and inclusion, is absolutely key.
We are always exploring ways to nurture and create opportunities for our pupils to become their best selves. Alongside instilling each pupil with the confidence to ‘give things a go’ through our enviable array of extracurricular activities, there is a strong focus on developing traditional values as well as those that help maintain a happy, safe, and secure atmosphere for learning in a disciplined, structured environment. At Westbourne, we want our pupils to be prepared to face a dynamic and ever-changing world. We believe that in today’s society, the ability to communicate and develop social and personal skills is as important as academic achievements – and this philosophy is at the heart of everything we do.
At Westbourne, we cherish each individual. We explore ways in which our pupils, as well as our staff, can grow and thrive, and we work in partnership with parents and carers to provide the best possible education.
We have unrivalled small class sizes, and our Scholarship Class in the Senior School produces some of Sheffield’s best exam results. A high percentage of children in this class go on to attain scholarships to top sixth forms before heading to the country’s leading universities, including Oxbridge and high-performing Russell Group institutions.
Finally, the ethos of our school is epitomised by our staff, and I am indeed fortunate, privileged, and humbled to work with such a dedicated team of professionals, whose level of care and pupil-centred approach is apparent in everything they do. This can certainly be felt through our warm atmosphere, which is based on mutual respect. Our Westbourne children are happy and free to express their natural creativity and curiosity.
