Sport plays a large part in Westbourne life

PE is taught from Reception right through to GCSE level at Year 10 and 11. The school has a wide ranging and substantial fixture list from Year 3 upwards and expert coaching is provided for all pupils, irrespective of their perceived sporting ability. We access the best facilities in the city for all students and all pupils are encouraged to live an active lifestyle which we hope will follow them into adulthood.

Inclusive yet highly competitive

Sport plays a large part in Westbourne life. PE is taught from Pre-School right through to GCSE level at Year 10 and 11.

A healthy attitude to life involves the mind and the body. That is why we offer an abundance of sport for all and encourage every girl and boy to strive to improve on their personal best through healthy competition.

At Westbourne your child will learn resilience in defeat and courtesy in victory.

Many of our girls and boys are selected for regional and national sports teams and many have gone on to represent the UK in their chosen field to include diving, swimming, golf and football

As you would expect from a school of this calibre, outstanding facilities are on offer at International and specialist venues across Sheffield. These include Pond’s Forge, Don Valley Stadium, the English Institute of Sport, Abbeydale Sports Club, Rother Valley Country Park, Hallam University and Ice Sheffield.

Fully Inclusive Sports Programme

We pride ourselves on inclusion and will offer a standard of coaching and a level of competition that will match their level of ability and interest.
Specialist sports teachers develop each child’s individual sporting potential and, irrespective of your child’s perceived sporting ability, from Year 3 they will be given the opportunity to represent their school at their chosen sport. We offer A, B and C fixtures so everyone can represent their school in sport.

For those who are not sports enthusiasts there are friendly games and inter-house competitions where the emphasis is on developing the individual and the enjoyment of taking part.

Annual international sports tours are on offer to all, the most recent being to Barcelona, Malta, Lanzarote, the USA and the French Alps.
