Club La Santa Sports Tour

Club La Santa This year’s Westbourne Sports Tour saw 48 pupils heading off for some Easter sun in Lanzarote. The trip was a huge success with enabled children from Year 5 to Year 11 to take part in no fewer than 32 different sports. The weather in early April was generous, bringing blue skies and hot sunshine to most days. Children were given the opportunity to try out new sports such as padel tennis, squash and cross fit. A typical day on tour would involve morning aerobics by the pool side followed by a walk, run or cycle ride. Pupils could book onto a multitude of sports classes throughout the day at Club La Santa. Trips were organised for afternoons and included go-karting, snorkeling in the sea at Puerto del Carmen,Rancho Texas zoo/ water park and the local market at Teguise. This was a very enjoyable action packed week and thank you to the staff who accompanied making this such a special trip.

Close win for Westbourne U9 v S Anselms

Today the U9B Rounders team played in their first match of the season against S Anselms.
The girls were excited but apprehensive to play against S Anselms.
In just a short period of time being back at school the girls have trained hard on their Rounders skills. Many of our pupils were new to Rounders this year but despite this they gave it their all.
It was a very close game throughout with displays of some good bowling from Daniella A and fielding from Elizabeth G.
By the second innings our girls gained confidence and started to showcase their ability in batting with Ava J scoring a full rounder.
The end result was 3 1/2 Rounders to Westbourne and 3 Rounders to St Anselms.
Players of the match were Elizabeth G for her fielding and Ava J for her determination in achieving a full rounder.

Great Rounders win V S Anselms

After only 2 weeks of practice, the girls were prepared for a tough rounders match against S Anselms A team.
On Tuesday 7th May Westbourne batted first away at S Anselms and scored a total of 5 1/2 rounders to S Anselms 2 1/2.
At half time we discussed how we could improve our batting to score more rounders.
Connie had a fantastic second innings when batting and Jessica caught an opponent out with a super catch! Final score was 13 Westbourne - 4 1/2 S Anselms.
Well played to all the girls and everyone is looking forward to our tournament at Barlborough Hall next Tuesday. V

U13A Rounders v Hill House

On Wednesday 1st May Westbourne U13A team played Hill House.
We scored 6 rounders in our first innings but didn’t field as well as we could have and Hill House scored 10 and a half.
In our second innings we scored 4 rounders making our final score 10. We knew we had to field well to keep the score down as Hill House has already scored 10 and a half.
We fielded really tightly and the final score was 15 to Hill House and 10 to us.
Lesson learnt...We need to work on placing the ball more effectively when batting!
