U13 defeat V Silverdale

Westbourne 1 Silverdale 5
The U13s had a 4pm evening kick off at Goodwin sports centre against a very strong Silverdale side on Friday 31st January.
We lost 5-1 but I was so proud how all the boys played outfield and our guest star player Esme Naylor who was amazing in goal. Westbourne stuck at it and had a never give in attitude through out the entirety of the game.

Luca Allcroft was awarded man of the match for his constant hard work and great distribution of the ball.

Matches for all at Ranby!

It was a cold afternoon at Ranby on 12th February, butafter a quick warm up, our girls were ready to go! We took 3 teams to Ranby so once again, all our Year 5 and 6 girls were involved in a match. The U11A team had a very close game and were leading by 3 at half time. We had a change around of positions and we managed to keep hold of our lead. At times our defence could have been tighter, but we can work on this for next time! Lily Radley received player of the day for her excellent accurate passing and linking play with the shooters. Final score 12-10 to Westbourne The U11B team unfortunately lost their game 5-1. They improved their passing during each quarter but we need to practice our shooting in order to secure a win. Lola Priestnall got player of the day for her super defending and snatching the rebounds. The U11C won their first game of the season and they were understandably extremely excited about this! They fought right until the final minute to win the game 5-4. Some great work passing quickly down the court. Mia Jones received player of the day for being speedy and linking play effectively between her players. We all had a wonderful afternoon out representing our school. Well played U11 Girls! The girls were excited for their very first game of the season. Westbourne had a great start and were leading the first quarter. It was clear that our girls were determined to win this game. After the team talk the girls were re-positioned and given constructive feedback.
The team displayed excellent communication skills and spacing. We were able to substitute players to ensure more pupils from the A and B team had the opportunity to play. The end result was 8-0 to Westbourne.
Excellent shooting from Ave-Mae, Alicia, Sophie and Eunha. Girls of the match was Ava-Mae Lowrie, Alicia Guest and Maggie Knowles. Their target for next week is to work on their footwork.

When all the fixtures had been played the eventual winners were Westbourne A team who just pipped Burton Hathow A team by 2 points.
Well done to all boys involved!

The Boys U9’s B team played fabulously to beat Orchard today on a crisp but beautiful January afternoon.
Captain George Brereton led from the front scoring the first 4 goals of the match. Rohan was the creative influence, and Toby B and Joshua H (our only Year 3’s in the squad) made their presence felt in midfield.
Will, Stellios and Henry gave no quarter in defence and Alfie was allowed a free role to express his passing ability. Jacob Smith showed much skill and added his name to the scoresheet numerous times in the second half.
A true team performance saw Westbourne win the match 11-3.

Another Undefeated Year 7 Girls' Football Tournament

On Monday 20th January our Year 7 girls' football team took part in a Year 7 Football Tournament at Springs Academy.
Despite the freezing cold conditions our girls were excited to play and their enthusiasm was wonderful to see. We had two Year 6 girls in the Year 7 tournament and they certainly did not look out of place!

Our first game was against Mercia School and we won 1-0. We were first to every second ball and captain Libby Leadbitter did some fantastic back tracking in order to support the defence.

Our second game was against Silverdale A team and we won 2-0. Once again our resilience and positive attitude to win the game was key to our success. Georgia Jackson and Grace Moss linked up play effectively through the middle of the pitch.

Great effort from our Year 6/Year 7 girls' football team!
