Westbourne School, Sheffield’s only academically non-selective independent school, is once again making headlines for its exceptional academic achievements. As the world of GCSE exams regains normalcy after the pandemic-induced disruptions, Year 11 pupils at Westbourne School have showcased their determination and excellence in yet another remarkable display of results.
In an impressive feat, a staggering 98% of all Year 11 pupils have secured success by achieving at least five subjects graded at level 4 or above. This achievement underscores their dedication and hard work, particularly in crucial subjects such as English and Mathematics, which form the cornerstone of academic excellence.
The scope of excellence extends across the curriculum, with an astonishing 41% of all grades attained by Westbourne School pupils reaching the elevated levels of 7, 8, or 9 — equivalent to grades A or A*. This accomplishment showcases Westbourne School’s unwavering commitment to nurturing high achievers. Furthermore, an impressive 64% of all pupils have achieved at least one Grade 7 (A).
Mr. Birbeck, Head of Senior School, said:
“I am immensely proud of the achievements of all our Year 11 pupils, and I wish them every success as they leave Westbourne to pursue their post-16 studies at Sixth Forms and Colleges across Sheffield and beyond. As an academically inclusive school we are pleased to have gained such a strong set of results despite the well advertised downward pressure on all grades as COVID mitigations are removed this year.”
Westbourne School proudly maintains its distinction as Sheffield’s only academically non-selective independent school, solidifying its role as an educational beacon. This latest batch of exceptional GCSE results further cements Westbourne’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and outstanding education for all.
