War
As we stumbled wishing we could crawl
Most of us wheezing and feeling sick from
Chest pains all I could think of was how
Lucky I was to be called back. I had to close
My eyes so I could not see all those dying
Around me I started to sprint to safety as we
Trudged along we had no brain of our own
But still we continued merely to carry out orders
We couldn't think see or hear any thing
Each Step was agony we were deaf to the shells falling
Behind us
“Everybody put your masks on before we die”
That was the scream I let out.
We used all the Speed we could muster to protect our selves
We were fumbling with the boxes and straps
Luckily we all made it, but one poor soul, I hear
Him choking and screaming from the water in
His lungs. The gas was emerald green like the envy
Between school boys But alas we could not see friend
From foe through the fog now as I stand there I see a
Silhouette of a man he runs to me collapses on
His knees begging for help, yet I could not, for as he knelt
There I knew he would die
Now imagine yourself having to watch a poor helpless
Comrade die in agony as he yelled. It would make you want
To tear off your skin in disgust of it all as it did in mine it
Would remain in our dreams for ever more with the thought
Of him choking on the water in his lungs so if some body says
It is glorious to die for a country you should spit at them in disgrace
For it is horrible to die for a country so I shall dam all those who
Think that to hell
