Calling 'Old Westbournians'
As our 125th Anniversary year fast approaches, we are hoping to contact as many Old Westbournians as possible in the hope that we can get together at the Sheffield Cathedral on Friday May 21st 2010 for our anniversary service.
At a time when most schools see their Old Boys and Girls societies flounder we at Westbourne seem to have ignited new interest. We contacted over 500 people from our old records last summer in a bid to establish an accurate list of names and addresses.
We have over the last year formed a new society ‘The Westbourne Society’ and have found volunteers to sit on the committee and new members to join the society.
The new committee keeps a record of members to make tracing people much easier and organises events that will hopefully appeal to the range of ages. Planned events are a golf day an annual dinner (2010 it will be the 125th Anniversary Ball) and regular sports fixtures.
To keep in tune with our younger members, a ‘Westbourne School Society Sheffield’ page has been set up and is being carefully managed by members of the committee.
This will include details of events and news about the school. (We will not be posting photographs of your children on this site) It will also offer them the opportunity to accept other members as ‘friends’ and communicate with one another, if they so wish.
Please spread the word and if you know anyone that attended Westbourne please ask them to contact us. An email address has been set up at alumni@westbourneschool.co.uk.
