Educational Visits
The Junior School seeks to provide a balance and breadth of outings from school and also visitors to school to support and extend our children's learning, both in the curriculum and the community.
Topics in Science, History, RE and Geography are planned as a whole Junior School unit by all the teaching staff to ensure progression of learning in the best possible way. Many outings or visitors provide experience in cross-curricular activities.
The school minibuses are used whenever possible for both convenience and economy. Generally, events that take place in school incur either a small or no charge to families. Costs for trips outside of school (off site) are to cover entrance fees and contracted transport where necessary. In addition to planned annual activities, the school seeks to take advantage of professionals visiting in the area, travelling theatres etc. whenever opportunities arise.

Westbourne Senior School Educational Visits
The school provides a range of educational outings from school to support the broad and balanced curriculum that promotes children’s spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development, and prepares them for the opportunities and experiences of adult life.
In addition to each class’s programme of learning for each school year, teachers and governors agree the corresponding programme of visits and activities each academic year. Many outings and visitors provide experience in cross-curricular activities.
Details of these visits and activities are given to parents at the end of the old or beginning of the new school year and also termly in the School Calendar. Other visits, for example theatre trips, are planned as the school year progresses, taking advantage of professionals visiting the area and parents are informed of these by letter in due course.
There is not usually any charge for class educational activities on the school premises. Parents are informed of entrance fees and transport charges for out of school visits and these charges are usually added to the school bill.
All specialist activities are undertaken with qualified instructors. Skiing and Games residential activities are usually on offer each year. Language trips are arranged. In Year 8 children are invited to spend a week at Rua Fiola, off the Scottish mainland.
