Young Writers Celebrate Success
Two of our students were short-listed in the Independent and Prep Schools’
Creative Writing competition in Spring term. They were amongst hundreds of
pupils from independent schools in the North of England to enter the competition,
organised by Malsis School in North Yorkshire.
Tommie Hassall, Year 7, and Miles Langdale, Year 5, each wrote a short story for their
specified age categories. In the Under 11 category Miles had to write 600 words,
whilst in the Under 13 category Tommie had to write 900 words.
Westbourne Head of Upper School, Martin Savage said, “With only six entrants short-listed
in each category, both boys have done fantastically well.” Tommie went on to win
outright in his group. Both visited Malsis School for the prize giving ceremony.
