Once again all S10 pupils have been participating in a two week work experience. Many of the youngsters
have used their own connections to secure a placement of their choice. It is very rewarding time for
me visiting all the pupils who are within an easy drive and glowing reports have been received about them.
Dolly Parton
It certainly is a time when pupils can show their initiative. Flossie Capper took it upon herself to write
to a business hoping that she could find out more about photography. As a result a senior manager contacted
me and an interview was set up. When I visited, Flossie had gone to the Magna Centre with the photographer
to cover the book launch by Dolly Parton. Flossie was involved in actually taking photographs. Her
supervisor could not praise Flossie too highly about the actual work she has produced, her approach to the
work and her overall progress.
Sam Hydes also deserves recognition for the quality of his work. He gained a placement at a large car
body repair centre. In the short space of time he had been there Sam had shown such commitment that he had
been given projects to do on his own. When I visited Sam he had already put masking tape around the front
of the car and was rubbing down the paint work ready to respray it. The manager was amazed at the quality
of Sam’s work and it was very evident that Sam had become a much respected member of the staff. All S10
pupils are to be congratulated.
