Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Lower School children arranged a teddy bears picnic this term to help
raise money for Medical Research into Children’s Illnesses at Sheffield
Children’s Hospital.
All the boys and girls brought their teddies to school for a teddy and
geography activities day.
Reception Class introduced their bears to the other children and took
their teddies the Senior School grounds to study leaves and insects
for their Autumn project.
Year 1 had a teddy bear picnic whilst Year 2 followed a route on a map of
the school and grounds to find Paddington Bear.
Boys and girls in Lower 3 learnt the techniques of orienteering, as they
tried to hep Snowy Bear find his way back to the North Pole using a compass.
In Lower 4, children used photographs and plans of the schools and grounds to
discover where a lost teacher bear had been and then gave directions to guide
him back to the classroom.
Head of Lower School, Marilyn Fenn, said, “We were overrun with teddies in the
Lower School which meant we raised lots of money to support the Children’s Hospital.
The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day and got to practise lots of geography skills
during the activities.”
