Westbourne School may be a long way from the beautiful Lake Windermere but that didn’t stop pupils from using their imaginations to recreate the magic of a great water based adventure.

The Year 6 MAPs (More Able Pupils) Drama Group presented their own version of Arthur Ransome’s celebrated Lake District adventure Swallows and Amazons in Westbourne’s natural garden ampitheatre - The Dell.

Two casts presented the classic story of sailing, camping, fishing, exploration and piracy for an audience of fellow pupils and parents, with a picnic at the end of the production.

“This was a delightful summer production that fitted perfectly into our ampitheatre,” said Westbourne drama teacher Sallianne Foster Major.

“Swallows and Amazons is a wonderful family adventure and both our casts enjoyed bringing it to life.”
