Reception class children welcomed their nursery teachers into school for the day. This gave
the children the chance to show how much they had learnt during their first year at Westbourne.
The nursery teachers were amazed to see how grown up the children were. The boys and girls showed the nursery teachers around their classroom and let them look at all the fantastic work that they have done.
The children read to their impressed nursery teachers to show how much they had progressed. It was a welcome change for the nursery teachers not to be the one reading the story.
The nursery teachers from Montessori Nursery, First Steps Nursery School, The Sunshine Day Nursery and Northfield Nursery were surprised by how advanced the children were and how much they had learnt.
After initial bouts of shyness the children were only too happy to proudly show their former teachers around the school, even treating them to a guided tour of their new Junior School playground.
Reception teacher Mrs Simpson said, "The children were very proud to show their Nursery teachers their work. Some of them read a story to their teacher and they all enjoyed demonstrating their skills on the new Adventure Playground equipment."
Mrs Simpson continues, "The visiting teachers were full of praise for the children and mentioned how encouraging it was for them to see how their former pupils had developed as 'whole people' as well as in their learning. This is the second year that we have organised such a visit and we feel it is a very positive experience for all concerned. Our children are excited and thrilled by the experience and it is a valuable way of promoting their feelings of worth and self-confidence."
