Hani Copley Year 9

“On Friday 7th December, I went to my great uncle’s nursing home to attend the medal ceremony for Sergeant Leslie Pulman who was a veteran of Korea, Suez and Cyprus who contracted polio on the 17th of July 1959 while serving in Cyprus and died three days later on the 20th of July 1959 . The medal is awarded to the next of kin of people that died while serving in the British army due to any cause after the second world war. As well as receiving the Queen Elizabeth Cross, we received the General Service Medal with the Cyprus clasp which was awarded between 1918 – 1962. We were also given the scroll commemorating SGT Leslie Pulman ‘who gave his life for Queen and country’.”
