PC Talks To Children About Safety
Children from Lower School were given a lesson in safety this term when
PC Joy Price from South Yorkshire Police visited the school.
PC Price brought in a bag of items that she uses in her job including
her radio, day glow clothing, handcuffs and truncheon and the children had
to guess what they were used for.
Year 1 teacher Abigail Aylott said, “The children were really interested
in PC Price’s job and asked her lots of questions about being in the police force.
“It is good for them to see a real life police officer and get the chance to
ask her questions as they have their own ideas of what the police do from
watching films and television programmes but these are not often factual representations.”
PC Price also spoke to the children about strangers and keeping safe outside
and in busy places.
