Bormio Italy was the setting for this year’s annual ski trip. Set in a sunny bowl at the foot of the Stelvio Pass in the mountains of Lombardy, Bormio is one of Italy’s top ski resorts; host to World Cup Championships.
Bormio is a spa town of considerable character and charm. When not on the slopes, the Westbourne group enjoyed visiting the cobbled streets of the historic town centre with its fine buildings and array of stylish shops, bars and restaurants. We spent an evening away from the usual a la carte dining of the hotel, when we took over a local pizzeria.
Our hotel was within walking distance of the main gondola, which was so convenient for the slopes. We had a fabulous time where skiers of all levels were able to improve their technique. The more adventurous also explored the pistes of neighbouring Santa Caterina.
The evenings were time for relaxing and catching up on the day’s events over dinner. We had our traditional fancy dress competition and enjoyed more winter fun at the ice rink.
