A brilliant afternoon of sport at Abbeydale saw 140 children from Sheffield compete in the annual Westbourne Kwik Cricket and rounders festival. Westbourne entertained Greenhill school in the final who smashed their way to a huge total. Westbourne battled hard but Greenhill ran out eventual winners.
In the Rounders festival we had a total of 6 schools including Westbourne take part. It was a wonderful afternoon with many pupils playing Rounders for the very first time as well as more experienced players improving on their already developed skills whilst supporting their peers. We were lucky with the weather making it an even better afternoon. Many parents came to support which was lovely to see.
Our U10 team were enthusiastic from the start and they were determined to bring home the trophy.
They batted very well and displayed some good communication skills when fielding.
The girls proved worthy of the trophy and won all their matches making them the winners of the U10 Rounders Festival.
Player of the day trophies were awarded to Nora Gregory for excellent batting and Grace Moss for all round playing.
Thank you to Greenhill, Totley, Nethergreen, Hallam, St Thomas of Canterbury and Dore Primary Schools for making this such an amazing day.
Thank you to our Year 11 girls and to OW Robert Gyte for helping with the umpiring.
