At a very well attended Sheffield School’s X-Country event on Saturday morning Westbourne had 2 very enthusiastic runners. Heidi Shackleton (Year 7) and Jorja Hague (Year 8) were very determined to run their best race on what turned out to be a beautifully sunny October morning.
The Year 7 race was one long course with a sharp uphill start which Heidi took in her stride. Heidi finished very strongly overtaking 4 other runners on the last 100 metres to finish 19th from a strong field.
Jorja, now in Year 8 had to compete against both Year 8’s and Year 9’s but didn’t let that deter her. The course was twice around a slightly smaller undulating circuit. Jorja finished a creditable 32nd from a large field of runners.

Well done to Jorja and Heidi who repesented Westbourne school with pride; they have both set a target to beat their finishing position in the next outing at Bradfield on 10th November.
