Girls’ Football Powers Forward
Girls’ sport is powering forward at Westbourne with the introduction of a girls’
football team during Spring term. The football club is held every Thursday after
school for Years 5 and 6 and is strictly girls only! The group learn basic
football practises and techniques and are able to apply them to real
game situations.
Year 5 tutor John Richardson runs the club, “Football is now the biggest sport for girls
and women in England so we wanted to reflect this at Westbourne. The girls are really
coming on and with two of them playing for the Sheffield United Academy we
should be entering tournaments in no time.”
