Children from J1 classes had a fantastic trip to the Traditional Heritage Museum. We ‘clocked in’ when we got there before starting different activities.
The children experienced a ‘wash day’ grating soap and using ‘poshers’ and dollys to wash clothes. They wrung them out and put them through a mangle and hung them up to dry. They then ironed some dry clothes.
They also enjoyed going into different shops on an old fashioned street, trying on glasses in the opticians, sitting in a dentists chair and looking in a coffee shop, grocery shop, chemists and cutlery shop.
The pupils also looked inside a front parlour, kitchen and bedroom and even an outside loo! The final activity allowed the children to dress up and play with old toys. The children ‘clocked out’ before leaving from their very busy and fun day out!
