On Thursday 26th September Year 7 headed to The Chase at Boughton Woods Woodland Centre, for a Bush Craft team building residential.
Set within the old royal hunting forest of Rockingham, close to Kettering, The Chase is set in a large areas of ancient woodland where our pupils became fully immersed in the natural world. Living in the wild, sleeping under canvas and cooking over open fires, this residential took Year 7 on an unforgettable journey of self-discovery.
This woodland adventure included a wide range of activities, designed to enhance social and personal development, whilst having fun and learning new skills. We were involved in activities such as bush craft, shelter-building, and wilderness cookery, to archery and orienteering,
The purpose of this trip was to help them develop confidence in unfamiliar surroundings, to react positively to new experiences and to share these with their peers, to think creatively about their surroundings and to develop a greater understanding of the natural British landscape.
“This trip was a great opportunity to develop our resilience, demonstrated in activities such as shelter building, tool cutting and fire lighting. The children were thoroughly engaged throughout and were as always, great ambassadors for Westbourne.”
