Help for Haiti

Pupils use their own initiative to raise money

Help for Haiti

Shocked by the recent disaster in Haiti, Westbourne pupils have come to school keen to offer what little help they can, to help raise funds for this stricken nation.

Ceri Rogerson, Lucy Stern and Isobel Budgen in Year 4 brought home baked cakes into school and sold them, with the help of Olivia Burnham and others, to the whole of Junior School, prompting others to get baking. Rohin Patel and others followed suit and the fund raising began!  Lily Proctor took it one stage further and involved shoppers in Ecclesall Road, where she set up a stall with her home baked cakes raising a personal £35. Some children even donated their pocket money in a bid to make their own personal mark.

Our Senior School pupils, prompted by the cold spell, came up with 'Hats for Haiti', when the whole school donned their hats and raised £358 in support of the victims of the Haiti disaster.
