Demand for places grows at Westbourne School

SHEFFIELD’S Westbourne School is avoiding recession as parents continue to invest in their children’s education.

As demand for places at the city’s only co-education day school continues to rise, there is greater pressure on places than ever before, with Year 8 currently full to capacity, resulting in an important new phase of expansion.

“Not wanting to compromise our small class size policy, which is one of the main keys to our success, we have decided to create a further class in Year 8,” said headmaster John Hicks.

“The school can accommodate these extra pupils into Year 8 if we expand into four classes.

“We have been sensitive to the needs of children and all form tutors have been consulted to achieve the right social and gender mix between the classes.

“This plan will further help achieve the school’s aims of providing an education where each individual’s potential is reached.”

The school, which is currently celebrating its 125th anniversary, has doubled its numbers and trebled its campus size in the last decade.
