Pupils record Sea Shanties for English Heritage

Striking a chord at Brodsworth

Striking a chord at Brodsworth

In the Senior School the accelerated form groups from Year 8 and Year 9 have been working with English Heritage at Brodsworth Hall near Doncaster on a project for an exhibition opening at Easter. 'Triumph at Sea: Step into the Finest painting at Brodsworth Hall' is all about a seventeenth-century marine painting by Ludolf Backhuysen . In December the students spent the morning recording music that will be used in an interactive computer game encouraging families to imagine they are part of the scene. Snippets of sea shanties, bugle calls and Baroque music will add a period atmosphere.  We have also made a link with Brodsworth Male Voice Choir who will be working with us for the opening of the exhibition.
