Top of the class with champion Jessica

Pupils meet Jessica Ennis

Who better to help you to the top of the class in your GCSE Sport studies than one of Britain and the world’s greatest athletes?

Westbourne school Year 11 pupils Lydia Rose and Holly Hasland were at Sheffield’s English Institute of Sport gym as part of their GCSE course work when they had an unexpected meeting with the city’s World Heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis.

“The girls were absolutely delighted, said Westbourne sport teacher Laura Cowley.

“Jessica is a great role model for all students and she was more than happy to join Lydia and Holly, pose for a picture and talk to them about their studies.

“It was just the sort of encouragement the girls need as they go into their final months of preparation for next summer’s GCSEs.”
